“Have Faith”: How One Family Found Hope and Healing with Divine Fijians Home Care

Welcoming a stranger into your home to care for a loved one can feel unsettling—at first. Diana had to take a leap of faith with a caregiver in her home.

But nine months later, Diana testified that it was the best decision she made, and her son was receiving the best care possible.

Her son, Thomas, is an extraordinary young adult living with autism. Divine Fijians Home Care (DFHC) is their set of extra hands, providing personal assistance at home.

“They are truly dedicated and passionate care providers,” Diana said.

“My son has formed a special bond with Elisha. He will listen more to his care provider than his sister in taking directions.”

Elisha implements thoughtful strategies to help Thomas connect with his surroundings – something that other caregivers could not fulfill.

Diana believes it’s the compassion and commitment shown by the DFHC team that has made the biggest difference.

“Their services and employees are just superior to any services we have had for Thomas,” she said.

“It’s totally a 5 out of 5.

“He is going out to the world again and not being sheltered. That is amazing.”

Diana now recommends Divine Fijians Home Care to friends and families in need of assistance.
“It would be my first choice every time. Have faith,” she encourages.

Eli was too shy to comment, and had his eyes glued to Thomas. He loved him as if he was his brother.

It is caregivers like Eli that we call our hero, said DFHC founder and chief executive officer, Poasa Koroitamana.

“Thomas and his family are our family too. We are one big family helping each other,” he said.

“Compassionate care is at the heart of everything we do, and our caregivers are the soul of this mission.”

Mr. Koroitamana said caregiving was second nature to Fijians, rooted in their culture and way of life.

“We grow up learning to care for our elders, our siblings, and anyone in need,” he said.

“That spirit is what we bring here—not for profit, but for the wellbeing of Californians, and for the love of our extended family back home in Fiji.

“Our love knows no boundary.”
