Fijian children as young as nine are being given the chance to pursue their passion for netball—thanks in part to the support of Divine Fijians Home Care (DFHC).
DFHC is not only a caregiving agency but also a good Samaritan in nurturing young people for opportunities outside the classroom, says company founder and CEO, Poasa Koroitamana.
DFHC recently provided financial assistance to Nasinu Primary School Netball team, a school club in Fiji, as they gear up to participate in the IDC Primary School Netball Tournament—one of the country’s biggest sporting events.
This support covers essential costs for the team and allows players from challenging backgrounds to compete at the national level.
“Our work isn’t just about physical care,” said Mr. Koroitamana.
“It’s about embedding compassion, building relationships, and shaping a future where our young people are supported and safe.”
Mr Koroitamana believes sponsorship is a way to get the message across to children who are growing up in tough surroundings.
“There are drugs, rape, and so many others criminal activities that our children need to be distanced from,” he said.
“It pains me to see our children get caught and sadly die from what could have been prevented.”
“Let’s talk to them in a way they understand. Engaging in sports they love can be a way. Let’s do our part as parents, guardians and adults.”
Mr Koroitamana thanked Californias who contribute immensely to this cause – DFHC clients and caregivers.
“Their support not only helps caregivers provide for their families—it helps a child begin a new chapter,” he said.
“The USA is truly a country of endless opportunities. We must pave the way.”
Meanwhile, two young netball players the company sponsors in Santa Rosa, California, recently joined USA Netball. They spent the past weekend in Seattle, Washington, where they met their team members for the first time.
The duo, who are members of the Santa Rosa Netball club sponsored by DFHC, are preparing for their debut in Atlanta, Georgia, this June.
“That’s the ultimate dream for our young children we sponsor,” Mr Koroitamana said.
“You trust in us to provide care is the same when we sponsor events, we know is going to change a life – thank you.”
