Caregivers Save Lives, And They Are Trained to Do So

Caregivers are not just companions – they are the eyes and ears of the clients they serve. In critical moments, such as cardiac arrest, their quick actions can mean the difference between life and death.

That’s why First Aid and CPR certification is a requirement in the home care industry in the State of California.

At Divine Fijian Home Care (DFHC), our caregivers are on the frontlines, delivering compassionate care that goes beyond expectations. Regardless of a client’s condition, they work to provide the safest and most comfortable environment possible.

Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 356,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year in the USA, with the majority affecting older adults.

Today, more than 20 DFHC caregivers earned their CPR and First Aid certification, adding to their skill set and enhancing their readiness to respond in emergencies.

In partnership with Vive CPR, an American Heart Association (AHA) certified training site based in Sonoma County, DFHC makes sure that every certification is current, and practical skills are at best.

Vive CPR offers high-quality training that complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

“We learned what to do when someone is stroking, having a stroke or suffered an injury and even burn,” said Aaron Bates, Vive CPR instructor.

“We also looked at responding to allergic reactions and seizures.”

Mr Bates said DFHC caregivers were caring, which was essential in providing care.

“They come from different locations, and happy to continue this learning journey,” he said.

The lives of those whom we care for are as important as ours, says DFHC chief executive officer, Poasa Koroitamana.

“Our goal is not just to be certified; we aim to continuously advance our emergency response capabilities. That’s why our caregivers undergo rigorous training.”

DFHC is a trusted provider of non-medical home care services in California, and has been recognized as one of the Top 4 “Best of 2024 Home Care” providers in Santa Rosa by Business Rate.
