Caregiver Orientation for New Hires

Yesterday, Divine Fijians Home Care (DFHC) conducted a comprehensive orientation program, welcoming new caregivers and reinforcing its commitment to high-quality, compassionate, and professional in-home care services across California.

Led by Manager Human Resources, Jale Kunawalu, the orientation provided caregivers with essential training on DFHC’s caregiving standards, client safety, communication, cultural sensitivity, and the expectations of non-medical home care.

As a state requirement, non-medical caregivers (HCAs) are to complete five hours of initial training, which include two hours of orientation and three hours of safety training before working.

With a vision to a thriving ecosystem of support and empowering lives at every stage, this was the first of the many orientations planned for the year.

Mr Kunawalu highlighted company policies, caregiving best practices, and the caregiver-first values that define DFHC’s approach to service.

“Caregivers are the heart of everything we do,” he said.

“Orientation is not just about procedures, it’s about setting the foundation for dignity, trust, and meaningful relationships with the families we serve.

“DFHC places strong emphasis on preparing caregivers to support seniors and adults with daily living needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care, personal care assistance, companionship, and safety monitoring.”

The orientation ensures caregivers are confident, informed, and aligned with the organization’s mission before entering clients’ homes.
